An explosion in on-line buying is driving a need for more warehouse and distribution hubs. This fact combined with an increase in local manufacturing and a boom in the housing sector is putting more pressure back on the road transport network.

A new event to take place in Brisbane in June called Intermodal Australia will showcase the very latest thinking and technology around the supply chain as well as a major exhibition focusing on products and services to save businesses money and to design and implement state of the art warehousing and supply chain facilities.

INDUSTRIAL LAND RELEASE MEETS INTERMODAL DEMAND

Ray White Commercial Northern Corridor principal Michael Shadforth said, “there has been a shortage of industrial land since mid 2021 but Ray White are working hard to satisfy the demand cross their key activity centres”.

Economic Development Queensland are releasing new land via their Industrial Parks across the Sunshine Coast in a bid to meet the demand in the South East. Director of Intermodal Australia, Bob Carroll said the event was timely. “With the creation of the inland rail network from Melbourne to the Port of Brisbane that will connect with the already operating new international airport and intermodal hub at Wellcamp on the Darling Downs, the demand is well and truly being addressed.

The 2nd runway at Brisbane and the new international runway on the Sunshine Coast are clear indicators for demand” he said.

“With that comes the need for better roads and warehousing and with that comes very strong interest from investors. We are already fielding enquiries for attendance at the event because they can see the longevity of the supply chain boom and they want to get in on the ground floor”.

Colliers heavyweight, Dan Dwan, said that Colliers are well placed to provide sound investment strategies and they are looking forward to being on stand at Intermodal Australia to connect with the right people.

The organisers for the Intermodal Australia Exhibition and Conference say that these exhibition sites, demonstration areas and seminar timeslots are filling fast.
